Murphys Law.....it SUCKS !!!!!

I have less then 5 days till I'm aboard a plane to Africa via London...The excitement is really building. I have all my clothes...my camera bags have been pack and re-packed. There are several frozen dishes made with love and labels with directions
So why can't things be easy right before something exciting? MURPHY decided to come visit.

A while back we noticed the water pressure was not up to speed in our house, then the hot water barely stayed long enough for one of us to take a shower. Called the plumber and they came out right away and left with a check for $900 after presenting us with a shiny new hotwater heater. Fine, all done, no problem. Then 2 days after that I am driving the SUV...hubby thinks the idol is too high...what do I think? Heck, I have no idea, it seem to be driving fine. Oh, but the joke is on me. The engine check light decides it wants to shine brightly in my face. Yeppers, it is in the shop with a guarantee $300 + bill. I hope MURPHY has decided to leave today and visit another family (excuse me... victim).

Anyone want to claim him????

Only Saturday....

I knew the days were going to start to drag. The next 7 days are going to feel like 20. I just have a few last things I need to do. The camera lens I am renting is on hold and waiting for me to pick it up on Thursday. However, I am going to call a few days before hand so there are no suprises when I get there to pick it up.
I keep checking the weather in Kenya and so far it seems ideal. We do have a layover in London which allows us to tour around for the entire afternoon. But, the weather is in the 30's-40's so it looks like I will have a turtleneck in the bottom of my backpack, considering I am not taking a coat.

Thanks to all of you who e-mailed me with make ahead recipe sites. I have put together several items that are now in the freezer with cooking instructions on the top. I'm now confident that hubby and kids will not go hungry at dinner time while I am away.

Why can't it be Friday yet????

Okay Ladies.... We have talked oodles about doing a shirt.
Plus all of us are keeping our fingers crossed regarding Oprah...So, I have come up with a possible design. I know many others have thought of logos, but I think we need to get our thoughts and idea to a point to finally get the ball rolling.
Even though the lettering in the example is pink...I can be changed... if we do a pink shirt.

I love FedEx...

I was so happy that I was home today when the FedEx truck pulled up to the front of our house.
The tickets for my trip arrived!!!!!!!! I had figured that I would get them today since my mom called and she got hers today. But, I knew figuring my luck they would come when I was running errands. I just hate it when you return and you have that yellow sticker on the door...Sorry we missed you ... When you work out of your house you actually look forward to the days UPS or FedEx show up at your door.

I guess it was my lucky day today. I have my tickets and my itinerary. YEAH !!!!!

Fourteen...

I leave in exactly 14 days from today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH !!! I feel like there are many things to do but so little time.
I did get my new camera bag. I hated it, it was way too big. So needless to say I returned it. I decided to take 2 camera bags with me instead. The new one I ended up getting is a small style backpack one. I really like it.

Well, now I am in the cook and freeze mode. But, as much as I love to cook I am having a brain block on things to make. If any of you know a good online site to find recipes for freezable dishes please pass it on. I have started a small list of nightly dinners so my husband can see that dinner shoudn't be too hard each evening. There are actually a few items he can make himself so I am not too worried. I do have the pizza hut # on the fridge for dinner emergencies just in case.

I know these next 2 weeks are going to drag by. ...Ugggghhhh

Under Three Weeks

I am realizing that I am down to a few days shy of 3 weeks till I leave for my trip... I have started making a list a various thing....

• Clothes I have
• Clothing I need to buy
• Photo equipment, Photo equipment, Photo equipment
• Daily sundry items
• Did I mention Photo equipment???

The most important thing for me to do is call Penn Camera in D.C. to rent the lens I am going to take.

It is a huge lens as you can see. I thought about buying one, but the $1500. price tag made me have second thoughts. The cost wasn't much better when I looked on e-bay. It is a great lens, but I would probably never get much use out of it for shooting weddings. So when I found I could rent one for under $225. for the 2 weeks I am going to be gone... I jumped on it. I did however purchase a new camera bag to hold both camera bodies and various lenses and supplies.

My next list of Things To Do will consist of items to cook with cooking instructions attached so my family doesn't starve while I am away.

Bandwagon....

I guess it's time to finally jump on. It seems to me that everyone and their brother has a blog.

Granted, I did keep a diary when I was a little girl, but whenever I unearth them (or it) from the box they have been shoved in, I notice that I wasn't that much of a writer. However, there could be 2 reasons for all the empty pages...a. nothing really exciting ever happened...or... b. I was just too lazy to write. I vote for the latter.

I am hoping now since I spend quite a bit of time in front of a computer, I will get a chance to post something.

One of the main reasons why I have started this blog is to document a trip I will be taking to Africa. 30 Days and Counting !!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!
