When I found out I was going to travel to Africa on a safari, my goal was to capture images of lions. Well, the images I got surpassed what I even thought I will get. The first 2 shots I got after our driver noticed a cape buffalo carcass barely eaten. He knew that lions had to be in the area. We drove a few yards and under some brush were a small group of lions resting. We circled around the group and the shots I gotwere when they woke up. I could have opened the van door and pet them if I wanted to, that is how close we came. The last shot was a male and a female together after a round of "afternoon delight". They filled over 10 disks. I think it should take me about a week to get them down to a workable amount. Thank god for digital because it enabled me to take so many shots of each animal and I didn't have to worry about wasting film. I have all my clothes...my camera bags have been pack and re-packed. There are several frozen dishes made with love and labels with directions<br />So why can't things be easy right before something exciting? <em>MURPHY</em> decided to come visit.<br /><br />A while back we noticed the water pressure was not up to speed in our house, then the hot water barely stayed long enough for one of us to take a shower. Called the plumber and they came out right away and left with a check for $900 after presenting us with a shiny new hotwater heater. Fine, all done, no problem. Then 2 days after that I am driving the SUV...hubby thinks the idol is too high...what do I think? Heck, I have no idea, it seem to be driving fine. Oh, but the joke is on me. The engine check light decides it wants to shine brightly in my face. Yeppers, it is in the shop with a guarantee $300 + bill. The next 7 days are going to feel like 20. I just have a few last things I need to do. The camera lens I am renting is on hold and waiting for me to pick it up on Thursday. However, I am going to call a few days before hand so there are no suprises when I get there to pick it up.<br />I keep checking the weather in Kenya and so far it seems ideal. We do have a layover in London which allows us to tour around for the entire afternoon. But, the weather is in the 30's-40's so it looks like I will have a turtleneck in the bottom of my backpack, considering I am not taking a coat.<br /><br />Thanks to all of you who e-mailed me with make ahead recipe sites. I have put together several items that are now in the freezer with cooking instructions on the top. I hated it, it was way too big. So needless to say I returned it. I decided to take 2 camera bags with me instead. The new one I ended up getting is a small style backpack one. I really like it.<br /><br />Well, now I am in the cook and freeze mode. But, as much as I love to cook I am having a brain block on things to make. If any of you know a good online site to find recipes for freezable dishes please pass it on. I have started a small list of nightly dinners so my husband can see that dinner shoudn't be too hard each evening. I thought about buying one, but the $1500. price tag made me have second thoughts. The cost wasn't much better when I looked on e-bay. It is a great lens, but I would probably never get much use out of it for shooting weddings. So when I found I could rent one for under $225. for the 2 weeks I am going to be gone... I jumped on it.
